In May 2007, ASPIRE brought the Sierra Leone National team to the UK for the first time in their history to play a friendly fixture against Leyton Orient FC
In November 2007 ASPIRE hosted and a Sports Memorabilia Auction held at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club.
The evening started with a networking cocktail reception, providing a unique opportunity for guests to introduce themselves to prominent members of the business, IT, Banking and Engineering sectors along with A-list sporting celebrities.
This was followed by a 3 course meal in the Harris Suite, where guests enjoyed a well organised dinner. Amongst the guests who were enjoying a glass of wine and dinner, where celebrities such as Nick Easter the No 8 England rugby player and Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand who were showing their appreciation towards the Aspire programme, by providing the guests with a warm welcome, permitting photographs to be taken autographs to be signed and questions to be answered.
Dean Forbes Vice President of Primavera (A US based IT company) was the auctioneer for the night and provided humour throughout the evening which in turn encouraged many of the guests to bid for many of the special items up for sale.
The auction began with a Manchester United shirt followed by a shirt signed by all members of the team and closed with a set of boxing gloves personalised and presented by Britain's newest world champion, boxer, David Haye.
Many new collectors showed an interest in Rio Ferdinand who generated substantial amount of attention, by personally signing his Manchester United shirt on the night.
With items from football shirts, VIP match tickets ,Holidays and Signed Amir Khan Boxing gloves to name but a few the auction proved to be great success.
